Happy Birthday New Balance
On Saturday 14th October I was invited to celebrate the one year anniversary of New Balance’s UK flagship store on Oxford Street, London with my friends Healthy Jon and Kirby.
Having been a big fan of New Balance for a long time I was really excited to celebrate this milestone with them!
New Balance are the official sponsors for the next London Marathon so they had some extra special guests and workshops. I particularly liked the “Stride ID” technology. The 3D scan technology is an innovative system by Volumental of Sweden that scans athlete’s feet to generate an advanced fit analysis and recommendation. In a few seconds, the system outputs a 3D scan of the athlete’s feet and key measurements to provide a proper fit recommendation. The solution consists of highly advanced software generating measurements and recommendations based on images of the feet.
Having been a sprinter for four years as expected I don’t heel strike, I land on the mid part of my food (my sprint coach would be proud), it was good to have this confirmed!
Best of all I was allowed to choose a full running kit so that we could join the New Balance Run Club, I chose:
The run club was a lot of fun, we were taken through a full dynamic warm-up by Steve Vernon and Jonny Mellor – both professional marathon athletes. Followed by some 800m intervals. I found this pretty tough considering I haven’t run further than 600m in about four years!
New Balance really know how to throw a great party there were all kind of special prizes and gifts to be won by customers who came and joined the fun – The first 15 people to have Stride ID on the day receive a pair of the NYC Marathon shoes best suited to their individual running needs.
I really like the direction New Balance are heading in and I hope to be invited to more of their events.
Thank you, New Balance!
