Do you want to take control of your health? Then learn to cook! For those of you that don’t cook, give this article a read and hopefully, I can persuade you to start.


My Story

I haven’t always been interested in cooking, up until I was 23 I was convinced I would always have someone there to cook for me (idiot). I couldn’t even cook scrambled egg!

Fortunately, my Dad is a very good cook, so I grew up understanding and feeling the benefits from eating whole foods cooked from scratch I just didn’t think I would ever have to cook for myself!

When I eventually moved out from my parents’ house, I got my Dad to teach me a few basic dishes. I remember being so careful that I followed each step correctly and I had no idea about the timings of anything!

Within a few weeks of cooking the same basic recipes I started to really enjoy it, and I drastically improved the time it would take me to cook each dish.

Once you get a basic understanding of how long certain things take to cook, you can cook a delicious meal with whatever you have in the fridge in around 15 minutes. I usually have cooked, eaten and cleaned up within half an hour.


My Food Philosophy – Eat Real Food

So, for those of you that think you don’t have time to cook… MAKE time. Learn to nourish your body with whole foods, cooked from scratch. Only then will you have true control over what goes into your body.

We have become too dependent on what I call “food like” products. These products are often packed with sugar, salt and artificial ingredients that cause havoc on our metabolism, energy levels and waistlines.

My food philosophy is simple: eat locally sourced, seasonal foods full of nutrients. In other words, eat real food. The body is not designed to constantly digest food and once you start eating foods that nourish your body you quickly realise that you don’t need to eat every three to four hours. You begin to recognise what real hunger feels like, empowering yourself with the ability to become self-sufficient. You will never be a slave to mealtimes again!

Real food is a simple concept; essentially, it’s what nature has given us: plants, fruits, roots, nuts, seeds, meat, fish, eggs, milk and its by-products such as cheese and yogurt. Real food is kept as close to its natural state as possible. It comes from animals that have led healthy, happy lives and that haven’t been pumped full of hormones, steroids, and antibiotics which are all transferred into the food chain. It should be minimally processed, not man-made and it certainly shouldn’t have a list of ingredients that you can’t pronounce. Put simply, if we weren’t eating it 200 years ago, it probably doesn’t qualify as real food.
